Yes. You buy the app once, and it keeps working. Updates within the same major version are included. There is no subscription, no annual renewal, no "premium tier." If a future version of the app is a significant redesign, it may be sold as a new product — but your current version keeps working.

Individual Mac apps are $9.99 at launch. Future major versions may have their own price, and limited editions like The Founding Set or seasonal theme drops may only be available during their release window.

Not with a polished flow yet — but if you email us we'll sort a gift license for you. We want to make this properly available on the website soon.

It retires. After 1,000 people have joined, the product is removed from sale. New customers can buy individual Mac apps at their current prices, but the founders-exclusive Ink theme and the current-and-future Mac app perk do not come back.

Ink is a colour theme — deep black on warm paper cream — only available to Founding Set buyers. It will never be sold separately, bundled later, or brought back. It exists to give the first 1,000 supporters a genuine collector's marker. Protecting this is what makes the Founding Set a real founding edition rather than a pre-order discount.

Founders get the starter theme collection and Ink. Future limited edition themes are sold separately, so the drop model can continue to work and fund new apps.

Founders get a private mailing list. Every so often, we'll ask what you'd like us to build next, which features matter most, which apps you're waiting for. It's a conversation, not a voting platform. Your voice actually shapes what ships.

Every Minimalist Mac app ships with two classic themes — Classic Light and Midnight. Those are always included. Starter themes like Strawberry Matcha, Provence, and Nantucket are optional add-ons. Ink is Founding Set only, and limited edition drops are sold separately. You never need an extra theme — they're for when you want the apps to feel a particular way.

Yes. One theme purchase unlocks that theme across the Minimalist Mac apps you own, current and future. Buy Strawberry Matcha once, use it in Tally, Docket, Shelf, and the rest of your Minimalist Mac apps.

No. The dots, tags, and category colours you pick inside an app stay exactly the same regardless of which theme you're running. They come from a fixed palette that's designed to sit comfortably in every theme without clashing. You picked green for Work? Green it stays.

A handful each year. Usually seasonal — a summer drop, an autumn drop — sometimes a collab. Each drop is a small capsule with its own evocative names, like Miami, Cold Brew, Barcelona, Vermont, Pumpkin Spice Latte, and Boston.

Never. Every Minimalist Mac app is fully featured with Classic Light and Midnight out of the box. Themes are a fancy layer — for people who love them, not a requirement.

Not yet. We're Mac-first right now so we can focus on making the apps feel truly native and beautiful on one platform before spreading thinner. Windows and Linux versions are on the table as the suite matures.

Not at launch. Minimalist is Mac-first. We may explore iPhone and iPad companion apps later, but they are not part of the current purchase or Founding Set promise.

Not as part of the current Mac purchase. If companion apps ship, pricing and entitlements will depend on the App Store model we choose and Apple's platform rules.

One personal license covers up to 3 Macs. If you need a team, studio, or household setup, email us and we'll help you choose the cleanest option.

Not at launch. The apps are local-first and offline-first on your Mac. We may add optional sync later, but core local use will not require a Minimalist account or subscription.

Licenses are personal and non-transferable, so each person needs their own. That keeps each library of apps, themes, and private data cleanly separated.

We support macOS 12 (Monterey) and later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel. If your Mac runs a recent OS, you're good.

On your Mac, in a local database. We do not run cloud storage for your app data, and sold apps document their export path before launch.

Only for the practical bits: license activation, optional update checks, and theme catalog refreshes. We do not send your app data, usage activity, or analytics back to Minimalist.

No. No analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no cookies, no fingerprinting. We don't know who you are, what you track, or how you use the app. Read the privacy policy for the full picture.

Not unless it genuinely helps the user do one thing better. We're not adding AI for the sake of it, and we'll never send your data to a third-party AI service. If AI ever does appear in a Minimalist app, it will run locally on your device.

Sold Minimalist apps include a documented export path before they launch. The exact format depends on the app — usually CSV, JSON, Markdown, or another human-readable format that fits the data.

Yes. After a one-time activation, the app works without an internet connection. It may check Minimalist for updates or theme catalog refreshes, but your app data stays on your Mac.

The app keeps working. It runs locally on your Mac — it doesn't depend on any server to function. Even if we disappeared tomorrow, your app and your data are still yours.

Email us with the address you bought with, and we'll resend it. We keep license records so you don't have to worry.

Download the .dmg, double-click to open it, drag the app to your Applications folder. That's it. Launch the app, paste your license key from the email, you're running.
